If you're a dance
freak surfing for some hefty sounds, then it's bad news for you. This isn't the
garage you're looking for. However, if you're a car driver in search of a
parking space - and, you know, it's estimated an average driver spends 20
months of their lives looking for a space - then, have you struck the jackpot.
This is THE site for you. This is THE parking spot for you. The Big Garage in
Wolverhampton. Just a two minute walk from the city centre shops. The map
shows
where we are.

As you can see, if you're planning on stopping for more than three hours, then the Big Garage is the cheapest place to park. If you want to park all day for work, then we're easily the cheapest.
What's more, it's secure with an attendant on duty. It's under cover, it's protected from the elements and it's huge. It's flippin big enough to park a fleet of buses in. Literally. Why? Because it used to be the old bus depot until they moved elsewhere.
Not only is it handy for Wolverhampton centre, it's also surprisingly handy for Birmingham centre. Yes, the Big Garage is next to the Metro tram line. It's like a brilliant, unplanned park and ride scheme for Birmingham. So you can park here, catch a tram to Birmingham and return with your car waiting for you close by. That certainly cuts out the nightmare of driving into Birmingham.
So, if you live in or close to Wolverhampton, we can save you all the hassle of driving round looking for parking spaces. Next time you head for town make for the Big Garage. This is it. The solution to your parking problems. You've arrived. It's like Nirvana for car drivers.
If you're from somewhere else in the UK, you can come and visit us now you know there's a safe parking spot for you. You can check out all the goodies Wolverhampton has to offer. You want more details? What do you think this is, the local tourist board or something? You're on the web aren't you? I'm sure it'll be in there somewhere.
Still need convincing? You mean you're not already in your car on the way here?

So here's more good reasons. We can also appeal to the generous, caring side of your nature.
Now, at first sight, it's hard to imagine how a whacking great ex bus depot can be an object of hope, renewal and ...err... beauty. But here's how it goes. The Big Garage is being run as a social enterprise. That is, in a nutshell - the money raised doesn't go into someone's back pocket. It goes into improving the local community, which is an area earmarked for regeneration.
The site of the Big Garage will be developed in about 2004 (it's hard to be exact, because planning regulations, procedures etc take time to get through). Tesco has bought the site, but until their plans are ready for the go-ahead, they have kindly let us use the garage site. It's being run by a community group called ASAN, All Saints Action Network. ASAN is involved in other plans to regenerate this part of town. ASAN also has a separate website of its own which has a lot more information, so if you want to find out more, visit http://www.asan.org.uk
News update:- The Big Garage celebrated its first anniversary in October 2002 and we're pleased to report a runaway success. There's a surprise twist too. Not only is the Big Garage attracting a growing number of cars, we've also had enquiries about storage of items over a longer term. For this reason we offer these rates as a guideline. If you want to store vehicles such as lorries, caravans or buses - or anything else too big to fit in your garage - the charges are £30 per month or £250 for a year plus VAT.
The continuing success of The Big Garage means that we have had to get VAT registered. While this is a good sign for the project, we unfortunately now have to add VAT to our charges.
